Arranger|Composer|Producer

Josh Lee is an arranger, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who got his musical start playing double bass in the community orchestra in his hometown, Spartanburg, South Carolina. After graduating from the Peabody Conservatory of Music Josh quickly became a fixture on concert stages across the globe for over two decades, performing with artists and ensembles ranging from the Los Angeles Philharmonic to Radical Face. Experienced as a performer and writer in both classical and pop contexts, as well as being an experienced session producer and editor, Josh finds himself at home on either side of the microphone.

Using a combination of live tracking and samples, Josh worked with Canadian artist Flower Face to reimagine the bittersweet song, Pisces Moon.

This piece began with the thought of a lake and the sky as beings -- animate beings who were lovers separated by one's life up above while the other was forever trapped on the ground below. The only way the two could be together was when it rained and a bit of the sky fell to touch the surface, each splash, wave, and ripple a moment of their fleeting dance. The piece is framed as though there's a narrator, evidenced by the upward g minor arpeggio that opens and closes the piece. All that happens between is the duo's desperate reunion across the surface of the water, one they know will end as soon as it begins.

Josh worked with indie veteran Radical Face to re-imagine “Welcome Home” for the ten year anniversary edition of the iconic album “Ghost.” Using a combination of live tracking and sample libraries Josh worked with the artist to create a lush expansion of this world-wide favorite.

Using sample libraries, Josh worked with Flower Face to bring an intense sense of drama and longing to her song Back to You.

Josh Lee performs his composition, "Introit,” from his album “Unaccompanied: Volume One.”

Josh was approached by Nettwerk Music Group to help label artists Machine Heart take a beautifully intense acoustic performance even further.
